About

Joseph Quiles (JQ) is a jazz artist, arranger, and producer from New Jersey with over a decade of experience creating and performing music. His musical journey began in the church, where he discovered his passion and developed his distinctive sound at a young age.

As a teenager, JQ was selected for the prestigious Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz High School Program, where he received formal jazz training and performed alongside renowned artists including Jimmy Heath, Antonio Hart, Don Braden, and Tim Green. Through the program, he also had the honor of performing at the U.S. Department of Education in Washington, D.C. as part of the Institute’s Jazz Informance series, sharing the stage with Terell Stafford and Tim Green to highlight the value of music education.

After completing high school, JQ continued his studies at Essex County College, further refining his craft before launching into a dynamic professional career.

Today, JQ is an emerging voice in the contemporary jazz scene, seamlessly blending jazz, fusion, and funk into a soulful, groove-driven sound. His 2024 releases—an elegant holiday rendition of “Joy to the World” and the smooth-jazz single “The Journey”—showcase his signature style, rich musicality, and deep sense of groove. In October 2025, he released “Inner Drive” (feat. Brandon Volel & Eddie Wiernik), a high-energy fusion track highlighting his evolution as both a bassist and producer.

Most recently, JQ dropped his new Christmas EP, Christmas Sessions—a warm, soulful holiday project featuring some of NYC’s finest musicians and vocalists. The EP includes fresh, inspired takes on classic favorites such as “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” (feat. Bella K), “Little Drummer Boy,” “The Christmas Song,” and more, continuing JQ’s tradition of blending musical excellence with emotion, creativity, and timeless groove
